EDUCATIONAL INSTITUTION (KINDERGARTEN)

The task was to create a conceptual solution for an educational institution, specifically a kindergarten. For the project's needs, it was important to develop a conceptual solution for the entrance area and a room within which various activities could take place. The kindergarten's conceptual design was created in accordance with the State Pedagogical Standard for Preschool Education and Training in Croatia. The kindergarten entrance consists of seating areas and spaces for storing children's footwear and clothing. Additionally, the hallway contains a cabinet for additional storage of didactic materials, toys, etc. The hallway is enhanced with a playful wallpaper that stimulates imaginative and creative expression. The entry doors to the living room are transparent and sliding to ensure the safety of the children. The room is divided into two parts (playroom and space for active and independent learning) and is visually separated by colors, shapes, and flooring. In the area for active and independent learning, there are round tables that encourage collaboration among children during learning and exploration. Also, it is enriched with a corner for individual work where children can independently acquire new knowledge. The play area is enhanced with a tent within which one or two children can play, in case they wish to play independently. The kindergarten is filled with natural light, which is extremely important for learning and work. In the process of designing and planning, it is important to involve all participants of the educational institution, as according to the research results I conducted in 2020 and 2021, there is no universal solution in space design; the ideal space is created through collaboration with participants in the educational system.
